Moscow, March 21 /Xinhua/ — Condemning the US-Israeli attack on uranium enrichment facilities in Iran, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on Saturday said it was a "brazen violation of international law."
"Despite well-known claims of the 'complete destruction' of Iran's nuclear program as a result of American airstrikes back in June of last year, on the morning of March 21, the uranium enrichment facility in Natanz, Iran, which is under IAEA safeguards, was attacked again," the Russian diplomat said in a comment published on the agency's official website.
"This is a brazen violation of international law, the UN and IAEA Charters, relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and the Agency's General Conference," said M. Zakharova.
She also noted that the international community, including the leadership of the UN and the IAEA, is obligated to immediately provide an objective and uncompromising assessment of irresponsible actions that create real risks of a catastrophe on a regional scale and are openly aimed at further undermining peace, stability, and security there.
Earlier, the Tasnim news agency reported that strikes were carried out on Saturday against Iran's nuclear complex in Natanz. It noted that "the strikes did not result in any leaks of radioactive material."
