Riyadh, March 19 (Xinhua) — Saudi Arabia's air defense forces intercepted eight ballistic missiles heading toward Riyadh on Wednesday evening, the country's Defense Ministry reported on social media.
According to the department, four missiles flying towards the capital were intercepted and destroyed, part of one of them “fell near an oil refinery south of Riyadh.”
Earlier on Wednesday, the Ministry of Defense reported the interception and destruction of four more ballistic missiles, the remains of which fell in various areas of the capital.
Saudi Arabia's civil defense agency said that debris from a rocket that fell on a residential building in Riyadh injured four people and caused limited damage.
Several explosions were heard throughout the city. Residents of urban areas of the Saudi capital received alarms on their mobile phones for the first time since the start of the current regional conflict.
