Moscow, March 19 /Xinhua/ — More than 20 emergency rescue infrastructure facilities are planned to be built in Russia by 2050 as part of the comprehensive development plan for the Arctic zone and the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies, and Disaster Relief (EMERCOM) reported on Thursday.
Funding for the first five of these projects is already included in the state "Construction" program; work on them will be carried out between 2026 and 2031, said Roman Kurynin, Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. Construction of the airfield infrastructure in Sabetta and the Arctic Integrated Emergency and Rescue Center in Tiksi will begin in 2026.
Starting in 2028, Russia will construct an Arctic Integrated Emergency Rescue Center in Dikson, emergency rescue infrastructure facilities in Khatanga, and airfield infrastructure to accommodate the Arctic aviation rescue unit of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in Ugolnye Kopi.
The Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor is a comprehensive transport system that connects the country's territories with the Northern Sea Route, which is the main section of the Third Transport Corridor, with river and rail route corridors, port and supply infrastructure facilities necessary for the movement of goods along the sea route between the western and eastern ports of Russia /St. Petersburg – Murmansk – Arkhangelsk – Vladivostok/. –0–
