Tehran, March 19 (Xinhua) — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian strongly condemned the US and Israeli attacks on the country's energy infrastructure on social media on Wednesday.
Airstrikes were previously carried out on part of the South Pars gas field in southern Iran.
According to the president, such “aggressive actions” will complicate the situation and “can lead to uncontrollable consequences, the scale of which could engulf the entire world.”
That same day, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf condemned the attacks on social media, calling them suicidal for the enemy. "The 'eye for an eye' principle has come into effect, and the confrontation has reached a new level," he noted.
Earlier that day, Iranian state media reported that natural gas production facilities associated with the South Pars offshore field had been attacked. Israeli media, citing anonymous sources, reported that the country's air force carried out the strike.
On February 28, Israel and the United States launched joint strikes on Tehran and several other Iranian cities, killing Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, along with senior military commanders and civilians. Iran retaliated by attacking Israeli and American interests in the Middle East with missiles and drones.
