Nanning, March 19 (Xinhua) — Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun and his Vietnamese counterpart Phan Van Giang held events as part of the 10th China-Vietnam Friendly Exchange Program on Border and Defense Issues from Wednesday to Thursday.

As Dong Jun pointed out during his meeting with Phan Van Giang, the armed forces of the two countries should maintain close strategic communication and carry out in-depth and practical cooperation to contribute to the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance.

For his part, Phan Van Giang pointed out that Vietnam intends to make efforts compatible with China to improve the quality and effectiveness of cooperation in various fields, as well as promote the substantive and in-depth development of inter-military relations.

During the events, the heads of the defense ministries of China and Vietnam inspected border troops, planted friendship trees, participated in the ceremony to launch joint patrols and naval exercises, and laid flowers at the monument to the revolutionary martyrs of China and Vietnam.
