BEIJING, March 19 (Xinhua) — China on Wednesday issued guidelines outlining the implementation of pilot projects to extend land contracts for another 30 years after the expiration of their second term.

The document, jointly issued by the Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC Central Committee) and the Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, contains 15 specific measures aimed at strengthening the protection of the rights and interests of farmers to use land on a contract basis, improving the management of contractual agreements, as well as strengthening the organization and leadership in this area, etc.

The document emphasizes the need to consistently uphold the system of collective ownership of rural lands and the system of contract farming of peasant households, ensuring the status of agricultural producers as subjects and maintaining social stability in rural areas. -0-
