BANGKOK, March 19 (Xinhua) — Anutin Charnvirakul, candidate of the Bhumjaithai Party, was re-elected as Thailand's prime minister with a simple majority in the House of Representatives on Thursday.

Anutin Charnvirakul, whose party won the most seats in the newly elected House of Representatives, was nominated for prime minister against Natthapong Ruengpanyavut, the leader of the People's Party, who came second in the February elections.

In a roll call vote, Anutin Charnvirakul received 293 votes in favor, exceeding the simple majority of the 499 lower house members needed for approval, House Speaker Sophon Zaram said, adding that Natthapong Ruengpanyavut received 119 votes. -0-
