The Republic of Crimea joined the Russian Federation 12 years ago, and since then, products and goods imported from the peninsula have become a staple in Muscovites' diets. They can be used to prepare a variety of dishes for everyday or festive meals. For example, a juicy salad with Yalta onions, crispy fried red mullet, or tender stewed shellfish called rapana.
Moscow has created all the conditions for domestic companies and farmers to display their products on shelves. This allows them to expand their markets and increase production, while allowing residents of the capital to purchase fresh Russian produce.
Crimean strawberries are extremely popular among Muscovites. During the peak season, residents eagerly purchase them from the branded "Berry Seasons" kiosks. Often, queues form to enjoy the vibrant flavor and aroma of this fruit.
A wide selection of products from the peninsula is also available on store shelves, and the range only grows year after year.
For example, on the shelves you can find table salt, the supply volume of which has increased 1.4-fold since 2023, as well as confectionery, mineral water, green tea, canned fish and meat, semi-finished products, and fermented milk products. Crimean fish and seafood, as well as fruits and berries, are in high demand.
In 2025, over 25,000 tons of Crimean produce were shipped to Moscow through the largest food market alone, including 19,000 tons of vegetables and melons, and 6,000 tons of fruits and berries, including juicy apples, peaches, nectarines, cherries, strawberries, and grapes. Among vegetables, customers were offered various types of cabbage, including kohlrabi, carrots, lettuce, onions, tomatoes and cucumbers, beets, potatoes, spinach, bell peppers, zucchini, radishes, eggplant, horseradish, and pumpkin. Crimean watermelons also proved popular with Moscow residents, with 415 tons of the juicy and sweet fruit arriving on store shelves.
