BEIJING, March 18 (Xinhua) — China's Supreme People's Court on Wednesday issued guidelines for courts handling civil cases involving minors, aiming to prevent juvenile delinquency and protect the rights and interests of juveniles through standardized procedures.
These guidelines, consisting of 39 articles divided into five parts, are the first judicial document of the Supreme People's Court specifically devoted to the handling of civil cases involving minors.
The document establishes the principle of "the best interests of minors" as a fundamental principle for the consideration of cases. It also emphasizes the importance of taking preventative measures to reduce juvenile delinquency.
According to the document, all stages of the judicial process must follow standardized procedures, providing guidance and support to minors and protecting their privacy.
