Scientists from Rosneft's Ufa Research Institute have patented an innovative method for assessing the technological efficiency of oil and gas field development.
The solution enables the determination of the most suitable well completion technologies, including hydraulic fracturing (HF), taking into account the geological features of various sections of the field.
The method is an algorithm implemented as a software module within the RN-KIN corporate information system. The algorithm collects and analyzes geological and physical reservoir characteristics, production data, well completion parameters, and hydraulic fracturing design. The algorithm then calculates the multiple of well production rates that would be achieved using the proposed technology, relative to well production rates using the technology currently used at the field.
The solution has been successfully tested at the Priobskoye field. The test results confirm the innovation's effectiveness in evaluating oil and gas field development solutions. The application of the developed tool will improve the accuracy of assessing the effectiveness of various field development technologies for decision-making on their replication. The innovative solution is planned for implementation at 1,000 high-tech wells with recoverable reserves of 60 million tons.
Developing technological potential is a key element of Rosneft-2030's corporate strategy. The company prioritizes innovation, identifying technological leadership as a key factor in competitiveness in the oil market.

The RN-KIN corporate software suite enables the rapid analysis of any geological and technological information about wells and fields, as well as complex engineering calculations to optimize reservoir performance and enhance oil recovery. It is one of the few IT products that implements the full digital modeling cycle—from planning to results interpretation and project feasibility assessment.
