In May 2023, the Moscow Metro, in partnership with the Russian State Library's Svet app, relaunched the "Books on the Metro" project. Free access is available by scanning a QR code. These codes are located at all Live Communication stands, at the Rasskazovka metro station, and now at five additional bus stations in the capital: Central, Krasnogvardeisky, Yuzhnye Vorota, Severnye Vorota, and Salaryevo.
"Since 2023, the 'Books on the Metro' service has been used more than 105,000 times. The project is available at all Live Communication stands, at the Rasskazovka metro station, and, starting this year, at all Moscow bus stations. We continue to make public transportation more comfortable, following Sergei Sobyanin's instructions," said Moscow Deputy Mayor for Transport and Industry.
A poster with the QR code for the "Books in the Metro" project at the Central Bus Station is located on the sixth floor, in the waiting area near the elevators and next to the café. At the Severnye Vorota Bus Station, access to the virtual library is available on the second floor (in the waiting room near the escalator). At the Salaryevo Bus Station, the poster is located opposite the ticket office, and at the Krasnogvardeysky Bus Station, it's on the second floor (near the storage lockers). At the Yuzhnye Vorota Bus Station, access to the project is available in the waiting room, next to the bus schedules.
The most popular books on the service were "The Mystery of Two Oceans" by Grigory Adamov, "The Air Seller" by Alexander Belyaev, "At Daggers Drawn" by Nikolai Leskov, "Nanny from Moscow" by Ivan Shmelev, and "Pushkin" by Yuri Tynyanov.
