Tashkent, March 15 (Xinhua) — China's experience in combating poverty is gaining importance for Uzbekistan, and the implementation of specific Chinese models is already yielding practical results in the country's regions. Ziedbek Yuldashev, head of the Tashkent Region Department for Poverty Reduction and Employment, stated this in an exclusive interview with Xinhua.
According to him, effective institutional cooperation has developed between the two countries in recent years. "The China-Central Asia Cooperation Center on Poverty Reduction was established as part of the China-Central Asia Summit. This initiative promotes income growth through the development of agriculture, cooperation, and small businesses," the Xinhua source noted.
Z. Yuldashev emphasized that a key element of China's success is a targeted approach. Specifically, a number of pilot projects based on the "cooperative and production chain" model, which has proven successful in Fuping County, Shaanxi Province, are currently being implemented in Uzbekistan.
"Based on this model, the cultivation of medicinal and export-oriented plants, such as saffron, lavender, and essential oil crops, has been established on 20,000 hectares of forest land in our country. Around 10,000 households are involved in this process," the head of the department reported. He added that this work has resulted in new jobs for rural residents and increased export potential for the products.
The official described the exchange of knowledge and the study of Chinese management approaches as an important stage of cooperation. According to Z. Yuldashev, the publication of Chinese President Xi Jinping's book "Freedom from Poverty" in Uzbek was a significant event for Uzbek specialists. "This work thoroughly explores the practical mechanisms and principles of responsible public administration, where the well-being of the people is at the center of policy," he emphasized.
Z. Yuldashev also noted that China's modernization, characterized by attention to human capital and adaptation to national conditions, serves as an important example for developing countries and opens up new economic opportunities for the Global South.
Sharing his personal impressions of his visit to China, the head of the department highlighted the discipline and openness of the Chinese people to innovation as key success factors. "China's developed infrastructure and rapid socioeconomic achievements, achieved in a short period of time, are deeply impressive and deserve in-depth study," concluded Z. Yuldashev.
