Almaty, March 16 (Xinhua) — The China-Central Asia Publishing Center opened on Monday in Almaty at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU). It became the first physical office of the Chinese publishing industry in Central Asia.
The China-Central Asia Publishing Center, established jointly by Xi'an Jiaotong University Press and KazNU, will promote cooperation in areas such as educational book publishing, mutual translation of classical works from China and Central Asian countries, the creation of a digital publishing platform, cooperation in copyright and publishing services, academic exchanges, and personnel training.
The opening ceremony included the signing of cooperation agreements, the donation of books, and the presentation of the new book, “International Legal Regulation of Transboundary Rivers.”
Speaking at the ceremony, Su Fangqiu, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Almaty, stated that humanitarian cooperation plays an increasingly important role in Chinese-Kazakh relations and contributes to strengthening trust and friendship between the peoples of the two countries. He stated that the new publishing center will become an important platform for joint publishing projects, expanding translation activities and disseminating scientific knowledge, and will promote humanitarian exchanges and dialogue between civilizations between China and the countries of Central Asia.
KazNU Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted that, through books, knowledge, and science, the center will bring the peoples of China and Central Asia closer together and will become an intellectual platform and cultural bridge, continuing the spiritual traditions of the Great Silk Road.
