Pyongyang, March 15 (Xinhua) — A long-range artillery unit of the Korean People's Army (DPRK) conducted a live-fire exercise in the western part of the country on Saturday, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Sunday.
According to KCNA, 12 high-precision 600mm multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) and two artillery companies were involved in the exercises.
General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of State Affairs of the DPRK Kim Jong-un observed the live fire exercise on site.
According to the report, the MLRS shells fired hit an island target located approximately 364.4 km away in the eastern waters of the Korean Peninsula.
Having stated that a powerful offensive force is aimed at the reliable defense of the state, the leader of the DPRK emphasized that his country will ensure lasting peace with the help of a powerful military potential, the statement said. –0–
