BEIJING, March 14 (Xinhua) — Chinese authorities have issued guidelines aimed at accelerating the revitalization and development of areas that were once revolutionary bases.
The guidelines, jointly issued by the Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC Central Committee) and the General Office of the State Council on Friday, outline a series of supportive measures to be taken in the revitalization and development of these areas, such as developing distinctive and competitive industries in line with specific local conditions and promoting coordinated development between regions and between urban and rural areas in former revolutionary base areas.
At the same time, efforts should be focused on strengthening and optimizing specific and highly efficient agriculture, the document says, adding that it also emphasizes the need to increase support in the fields of education, science and technology, and attract talented specialists to these areas.
The guidelines emphasize the need to deepen the integration of culture and tourism in former revolutionary base areas and provide support for interregional and practical integration of culture and tourism in these areas.
Efforts will also be made to preserve the revolutionary legacy, including protecting materials related to the early history of the CPC, and strengthening revolutionary education.
The document sets the goal of essentially completing socialist modernization in the former revolutionary base areas by 2035, at the same time as the rest of the country. -0-
