With the arrival of warmer weather, spring agricultural work is underway across China. Scientific and technological potential and support measures are also ensuring the protection of agricultural production.
Currently, approximately 150,000 mu (10,000 hectares) of winter wheat are entering the earing stage in Peng'an County, Nanchong City, Sichuan Province. Local authorities are taking advantage of the favorable timing by deploying several intelligent drones to protect the crops, implementing a unified pest and disease control program. Technology and agricultural machinery are also simultaneously helping prepare the seedlings.
At a thousand-meter vegetable base in Baise City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the mass harvest of winter vegetables, planted in continuous rows, has begun. Vegetable growers, spread out across the fields, skillfully pick, sort, tie, and stack the produce into baskets. Taking advantage of the favorable location and climate of the Yujiang River Valley, local authorities are actively developing vegetable farming. Currently, annual vegetable production in the Yujiang region exceeds 480,000 tons, of which approximately 200,000 tons are annually shipped to the Greater Bay Area.
In Yining County, Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang, the spring migration of 118,000 head of livestock has begun. Shepherds, along with their flocks of sheep and cattle, set out from winter pastures to spring pastures or to their permanent homes. The spring migration is the most important of all seasonal migrations for livestock herders. During this time, mostly pregnant sheep are moved, and the success of the migration directly impacts the herders' annual income. Local authorities have set up service stations along the route to ensure the successful migration.
