The My Documents government service centers, together with the Moscow Main Archives, presented the exhibition "Strength in Unity" as part of the "Moscow – Caring for History" project. It opens a series of exhibitions dedicated to the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.
Visitors will learn about the events that took place on November 4 (October 22, Old Style), 1612, which resulted in the liberation of Moscow from the Polish-Lithuanian invaders and the end of the Time of Troubles. The exhibition will tell the story of the origins of National Unity Day and its symbols. Residents will be able to read the history of the miraculous Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, a copy of which accompanied the army of Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky, and learn more about Konstantin Makovsky's magnificent painting "Minin's Appeal," which depicts the birth of the second people's militia.
The video will demonstrate how the events of the Time of Troubles have influenced Russia's present. In an archival audio recording, visitors will hear the chorus "Glory" from Mikhail Glinka's opera "Ivan Susanin," performed by the choir and orchestra of the State Academic Bolshoi Theater of the USSR.
Using infographics, city residents will learn interesting facts about Moscow's first sculptural monument—the monument to Minin and Pozharsky—the World Festival of Youth and Students, and the large-scale exhibition and forum "Russia."
Additionally, children will be able to decipher encrypted proverbs dedicated to the Motherland in an interactive game, while adult visitors will be able to test their knowledge of National Unity Day and its history in a quiz.
The exhibition is open 7 days a week in district offices from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and in flagship offices from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
