Pyongyang, March 10 (Xinhua) — North Korea strongly condemned the ongoing military exercises between the United States and the Republic of Korea (ROK) as "further undermining stability in the region," the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Tuesday.
Kim Yo-jong, a department head at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, said the large-scale joint military exercises "Freedom Shield" are not a "war game" but a "provocative and aggressive war rehearsal" designed to simulate and plan a confrontation with North Korea.
"The latest global geopolitical crises and complex international developments show that in all military maneuvers by the armed forces of hostile states, there is no distinction between defense and offense, exercises and actual warfare, and we must be fully prepared to respond to this with an overwhelming and preemptive super-powerful offensive," KCNA quoted Kim Yo Jong as saying.
“The DPRK’s security sphere is absolutely inviolable,” she noted, adding that the country will carefully protect the security of the Korean Peninsula and the region. –0–
