BEIJING, March 9 (Xinhua) — China has strengthened judicial protection of intellectual property rights (IPR) over the past year as part of its broader push to enhance its high-level science and technology capabilities, according to a work report by the Supreme People's Court (SPC) submitted to the ongoing fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) on Monday.

In 2025, Chinese courts handed down sentences to approximately 19,000 defendants in criminal cases related to IPR infringement, which is 6.2 percent more than the previous year, the document says. -0-
