BEIJING, March 9 (Xinhua) — China will strengthen its fight against telecommunications and internet fraud in 2026, according to a work report by the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) submitted to the ongoing fourth session of the 14th NPC on Monday.

Last year, about 69,000 people were charged with suspected crimes related to telecommunications and internet fraud, according to the report.

In 2025, China cracked down on cross-border telecom fraud, prosecuting 285 individuals from criminal groups based in northern Myanmar. They were charged with fraud, intentional murder, and intentional injury to Chinese citizens, according to the report.
