Tashkent, March 9 (Xinhua) — In January-February 2026, Uzbekistan imported 9,698 electric vehicles worth approximately $158.7 million. The volume of imports was more than six times higher than the same period last year, according to data from the Customs Committee under the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan.
According to the agency's statistics, 1,556 electric cars worth a total of approximately $17.99 million were imported into the country in the first two months of 2025.
Significant growth was also recorded in the hybrid vehicle segment during the reporting period. Since the beginning of this year, 1,249 hybrids worth $41.2 million have been imported into Uzbekistan, compared to only 70 such vehicles worth $2.16 million during the same period a year earlier.
Statistics indicate a gradual shift in consumer demand in Uzbekistan towards electric and hybrid vehicles, while the market for traditional vehicles remains stable. –0–
