BEIJING, March 9 (Xinhua) — In 2025, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) will, through high-quality legislative work, provide services and guarantees for China's reform and development. This was stated in the work report of the NPC Standing Committee, submitted to the fourth session of the 14th NPC on Monday.

According to the report, last year, in order to strengthen economic legislation, the NPC Standing Committee drafted the Law on Promoting the Development of the Non-State Sector of the Economy, which clearly establishes the principles of impartial treatment, fair competition, equal protection, and common development.

The NPC Standing Committee amended the Anti-Unfair Competition Law of the People's Republic of China and the Civil Aviation Law of the People's Republic of China to accelerate the establishment of a high-level socialist market economic system, and revised the Maritime Commerce Law of the People's Republic of China, the Arbitration Law of the People's Republic of China, and the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China to promote the country's high-level opening up to the outside world.

In order to improve legislation in the field of social management and public welfare, the NPC Standing Committee drafted the Law on Response to Public Health Emergencies and revised the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Treatment of Infectious Diseases, the aforementioned report noted.

Regarding strengthening national and public security legislation, the NPC Standing Committee drafted the Atomic Energy Law of the People's Republic of China to support the research, development, and peaceful use of nuclear energy in accordance with the law. It also revised the Cybersecurity Law of the People's Republic of China to enhance data security and the protection of personal information.

In fulfilling its oversight functions, the NPC Standing Committee heard and reviewed the reports of the State Council of the People's Republic of China on developing productive forces of new quality and promoting the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in order to promote the deep integration of scientific, technological and industrial innovation.
