BEIJING, March 8 (Xinhua) — The Long March-8A Y8 carrier rocket, developed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, has been successfully delivered to the launch pad in South China's Hainan Province.
The launch vehicle was delivered vertically to the Hainan Commercial Satellite Launch Center on Saturday. It is currently on Launch Pad No. 1, with launch scheduled for the coming days, according to China Media Group.
The Long March 8A launch vehicle is a significantly modified model of the Long March 8 series. With a payload capacity of 7 tons to a 700-km sun-synchronous orbit, it is specifically designed to ensure high launch density and rapid satellite constellation formation.
Since its maiden flight in February 2025, the Long March 8A has entered a rapid launch cycle and, having successfully completed seven missions, has become the primary launch vehicle for China's satellite internet constellation. Approximately 15 launches of the Long March 8 series are planned for 2026. -0-
