JERUSALEM, March 8 (Xinhua) — The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) killed Abu al-Qasem Babayan, who was recently appointed head of the Iranian Supreme Leader's Military Directorate, the Israeli Defense Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
The appointment came days after his predecessor was killed in the exchange of airstrikes that followed the US-Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28, the statement said.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz was informed of the assassination of Abu al-Qasem Babayan during an operational meeting with IDF Chief of General Staff Eyal Zamir and other senior officers. –0–
