Moscow, March 7 (Xinhua) — Western and Central European countries are facing an energy collapse due to the crisis in the Middle East. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated this in an interview with RIA Novosti on Friday.
"I think the most relevant context for this question is not even the situation around Ukraine, but the collapse that's engulfing Western and Central European countries due to the crisis in the Middle East. Energy prices have skyrocketed—both gas and oil," said M. Zakharova.
She recalled that the EU had banned itself from purchasing energy resources from Russia. Given the attack on Iran, she wondered where the EU now intended to get its fuel. –0–
