National People's Congress (NPC) deputy Jin Ruirui is the chairperson of the Mouding Nationality Embroiderers' Association and County of Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. She not only preserves the ancient art of national embroidery in her native land but also leads numerous artisans on a unique path of cultural enrichment and rural revitalization.
Over the course of more than ten years, Jin Ruirui has transformed herself from a simple embroiderer into an industry leader, employing over 2,000 women. She created the "company-association of craftswomen" model and organized embroidery workshops in villages, helping women realize their dreams of "raising children, embroidering, and supporting a family." By integrating traditional patterns into modern arts and crafts, she is promoting the transition of ethnic embroidery from formal wear to everyday life. Costumes she designed featuring elements of ethnic embroidery have been presented at fashion weeks in New York, Milan, Paris, and elsewhere.
In 2023, Jin Ruirui was elected to the National People's Congress. During her tenure, she conducted field research and made proposals and recommendations on the protection of intangible cultural heritage—ethnic embroidery and its development—as well as on pressing issues such as education and healthcare.
At the 2026 NPC session, Jin Ruirui plans to put forward a series of proposals on two main topics: “Further support for the ethnic embroidery industry in Chuxiong to realize distinctive development” and “Mental health and prevention of juvenile delinquency.”
