BEIJING, March 7 (Xinhua) — China's leading universities have increased their student enrollment by 38,000 over the past two years, Education Minister Huai Jinpeng said Saturday.

During the same period, more than 540 new joint institutions and training programs were established between the Chinese mainland and other countries and regions at the undergraduate level and above, Huai Jinpeng said at a press conference on the sidelines of the 4th session of the 14th National People's Congress.

From 2021 to 2025, China has added more than 8,600 new academic units to offer undergraduate programs and more than 4,500 academic units authorized to issue master's degrees, with many of the adjusted disciplines and specialties adapting to future development and the all-round development of people, the minister noted.
