BEIJING, March 6 (Xinhua) — China on Friday rejected Australia's accusations over the plane crash over the Yellow Sea and expressed serious dissatisfaction and resolute protest over Australia's distortion of the facts.
Responding to a media inquiry, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Jiang Bin said the Australian frigate had recently repeatedly deployed its naval helicopters to conduct close-in reconnaissance missions against China in the Yellow and East China Seas under the pretext of implementing UN Security Council resolutions.
"These actions constituted continuous provocations and posed a threat to China's national security," Jiang Bin noted.
The Chinese armed forces immediately took decisive and effective action. The actions taken were lawful, reasonable, professional, and standard, fully consistent with international law and practice, the official spokesperson stated.
Jiang Bin called on Australia to effectively respect China's sovereignty and security concerns, immediately stop spreading false information, strictly limit the activities of its naval and air forces, refrain from any risky provocative actions, and not commit acts that undermine peace and stability in the region.
