VDNKh invites you to tour Pavilion No. 1, "Central." Guests will have a rare opportunity to see it in all its glory—free of exhibition structures.
Following a major restoration, the pavilion showcased the finest examples of national art. Until February 1, the pavilion hosted the exhibition "The Image of Moscow in Russian Art from the Collection of the State Russian Museum," and previously, an exhibition from the State Tretyakov Gallery.
Visitors will see mural paintings that became permanent exhibits after the pavilion's restoration. These include "The Storming of the Winter Palace" and "V.I. Lenin Proclaims Soviet Power at the Second Congress of Soviets" by Pavel Sokolov-Scali, "The Soviet People Have the Right to Education" ("Students at Moscow State University") by Alexander Gerasimov, "The Soviet People Have the Right to Rest" by Sergei Otroshchenko, and "Dairy and Meat Production" by Boris Shcherbakov.
Tour guides will pay special attention to the monumental high relief "Glory to the Standard Bearer of Peace, to the Soviet People!" by Yevgeny Vuchetich. Long considered lost, it was discovered and restored during the pavilion's restoration. The 90-square-meter high relief depicts a ceremonial procession of Soviet citizens of various nationalities, professions, and ages. It depicts over 1,500 people, with approximately 30 key figures prominently featured. The high relief is considered one of the greatest treasures not only of VDNKh but of all Russian art.
