Tashkent, March 5 (Xinhua) — Uzbekistan's Syrdarya region will become a region of advanced innovation based on China's experience. This was announced at a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Wednesday.

The event emphasized that the region has already established direct cooperation with Chinese provinces.

The region's economy grew by 9.8 percent last year, with industry growing by 8.2 percent. Compared to 2017, the gross regional product per capita increased almost 3.8-fold, reaching 38.1 million soums (approximately $3,127).

The President of Uzbekistan emphasized that each project in the region must bring tangible results for the population's income and standard of living.

In addition to China, the Syrdarya region is developing partnerships with the Republic of Korea, Japan, Malaysia, and France in the areas of livestock farming and food processing. –0–
