On the eve of International Women's Day Sergei Sobyanin presented state awards of the Russian Federation and awards of the city of Moscow to honored residents of the capital.

He congratulated Muscovites on the upcoming holiday on behalf of the Moscow Government and on his own behalf.

"Women present here work in a wide variety of industries. This is natural, as Muscovites are the backbone of our economy, social life, and political life. Present here are representatives of an industry that has been rapidly developing in recent years; they create unique products in microelectronics, pharmaceuticals, and, of course, they provide for the defense industry, which our country so desperately needs today," said Sergei Sobyanin.

He noted that representatives of the transportation industry were also present in the hall. They transport Muscovites to work, play, and home every day. Furthermore, among those being awarded were women working in healthcare. They save the lives of millions of citizens and provide hospital care to participants in special military operations.

Traditionally, the capital also honors teachers who shape the country's future by ensuring a worthy, high-quality education for the younger generation. Women working in the cultural sector also gathered in the hall.

"I am convinced that Moscow is not only a political but also a cultural center, not only for our country but also for the world, thanks to the number of museums and theaters we have, the wonderful performances we create, the wonderful films we make, and the wonderful museums we have," Sergei Sobyanin emphasized.

He thanked the Muscovites for their work, as well as for investing their talent, soul, and heart into the development of the city.
