Baku, March 5 /Xinhua/ — The Azerbaijani Armed Forces have been put on maximum combat alert following an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Speaking at a meeting of the Azerbaijani Security Council on Thursday, President Ilham Aliyev said the strikes targeted civilian infrastructure, including the terminal building of the Nakhchivan International Airport and a local school.
The head of state emphasized that Azerbaijan will never allow its territory to be used for aggression against its neighbors, specifically noting that the country does not intend to participate in any operations against Iran.
Tehran on Thursday officially denied Baku's accusations of involvement in the launch of drones toward Azerbaijan.
