WASHINGTON, March 3 (Xinhua) — The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Tuesday that American forces destroyed 17 Iranian ships, sinking the entire Iranian navy fleet.

"Many of you may remember the shocking and horrific strikes of 2003. The first 24 hours of that operation were nearly twice as large, and we continue to strike Iran around the clock, from the seabed to space and cyberspace," CENTCOM Chief Brad Cooper said in a video posted on social media.

"We're now less than 100 hours into this operation, and we've already hit nearly 2,000 targets with more than 2,000 munitions. We've seriously undermined Iran's air defenses and destroyed hundreds of Iranian ballistic missiles, launchers, and drones," said B. Cooper.

"We also sank the Iranian navy, the entire navy. To date, we have destroyed 17 Iranian ships, including Iran's most capable submarine, which now has a hole in its side," he said.

CENTCOM also reported that Iran has launched more than 500 ballistic missiles and more than 2,000 unmanned aerial vehicles since the start of the US-Israeli strikes. –0–
