UN, March 4 (Xinhua) — The Board of Presidents of the UN General Assembly called for an immediate de-escalation of the conflict and an immediate cessation of hostilities in the Middle East and urged all parties to immediately return to the negotiating table under UN auspices.
In a statement released Monday, the council expressed grave concern over the outbreak of hostilities between the United States, Israel and Iran, condemning the use of force by all parties to the conflict and its grave consequences for neighboring countries across the Middle East.
“This is a flagrant violation of the UN Charter and international law and poses a serious threat to international peace and security,” the statement said.
The Council of Chairs called on all parties to the conflict to comply with their obligations under international law, in particular the UN Charter. –0–
