The 14th Rosneft Winter Sports Games concluded at the Sochi Olympic Park. Four days of intense competition brought together more than 500 athletes from 34 subsidiaries and the Company's headquarters.
The final hockey matches and the awards ceremony for the Games' winners took place at the Iceberg Ice Palace, the arena that brought the Russian Olympic team numerous gold medals in 2014. On behalf of the professional athletes participating in the Games, Rosneft was congratulated by Ivan Chubarov, driver of the Lada Sport Rosneft racing team.
"The Winter Games have once again proven that Rosneft is not just a professional oil team, but also a large sports family. Sport unites generations and regions, and we will continue these traditions," the Games' organizing committee noted.
This year, participants competed in three disciplines: cross-country skiing, biathlon, and hockey. The hockey tournament was a record-breaking affair, with over 100 matches, and 33 teams vying for the Super League and Major League crowns. After a shootout, Ufaorgsintez emerged victorious in the Super League, while ROSPAN secured a shutout victory in the Major League.
The cross-country skiing competitions took place at another Olympic venue, the Laura Stadium, located at an altitude of 1,500 meters. Athletes had to cover distances of 10 km (men's) and 5 km (women's), with an elevation difference of 64 meters. The competition culminated in a mixed relay, in which the teams demonstrated tactical coordination. Samaraneftegaz athletes won the team competition.
Bioathletes also competed at the Laura Stadium, covering a 3.75-kilometer course with two shooting ranges. A unique feature of the tournament was the use of their own rifles (Alex C1 and Pioneer models). For the first time at the Rosneft Games, shooting was conducted not only from the prone position but also from the standing position, which requires exceptional endurance and skill. Yugansneftegaz athletes won the team competition.
Sport is an integral part of Rosneft's social policy. The company implements comprehensive programs to support employee health and active leisure, hosting summer and winter Spartakiads, as well as tournaments in various sports. The Winter Sports Games are a key event demonstrating the company's commitment to the values of a healthy lifestyle and teamwork.
