Dushanbe, March 2 (Xinhua) — Tajik President Emomali Rahmon sent a telegram to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, expressing condolences over the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Khovar news agency reported on Monday.
In his message, the Tajik president noted that he received the news of the death of A. Khamenei and a number of Iranian government officials with deep sadness, calling the incident a “tremendous loss.”
E. Rahmon emphasized that A. Khamenei made a significant contribution to the development of comprehensive and constructive Tajik-Iranian relations and to strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
Tajikistan's Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Sunday calling for effective and immediate measures to prevent further escalation and avoid tragic consequences.
