TEHRAN, March 2 (Xinhua) — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday appointed Majid bin al-Reza as acting defense minister.

A message about this was posted on the social network X by the Deputy Head of the Presidential Chancellery for Public Relations, Mohammad Mehdi Tabatabai.

M. ibn al-Reza's appointment came after the death of the previous defense minister, Aziz Nasirzadeh, in a joint US-Israeli airstrike on the Iranian capital Tehran on February 28.

Previously, M. ibn al-Reza held the post of deputy head of the Islamic Republic's defense department. –0–
