BEIJING, March 2 (Xinhua) — China expressed serious dissatisfaction and strong protest on Monday over the UK's imposition of a new round of sanctions against Chinese companies under the pretext of so-called "Russia-related issues," a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said.
The spokesman stressed that the UK's actions constituted unilateral sanctions that had no basis in international law and did not receive a United Nations mandate.
Regarding the Ukrainian crisis, the representative noted that China has consistently implemented strict controls on the export of dual-use goods in accordance with laws and regulations, stressing that normal exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Russian enterprises should not be disrupted or affected.
The official called on the UK to immediately correct its wrong actions and lift sanctions against relevant Chinese entities, adding that China will take necessary measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises. -0-
