UN, March 1 /Xinhua/ — China is "deeply concerned" by the military strikes carried out by the United States and Israel on Iran on Saturday, China's Permanent Representative to the UN, Fu Cong, said at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.
The diplomat said China consistently advocates that all parties abide by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and opposes and condemns the threat or use of force in international relations.
"China stresses the need to respect the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of Iran and other countries in the region," he said.
The Permanent Representative called on all interested parties to demonstrate political sincerity, resume dialogue and negotiations as soon as possible, and return to the right path of political settlement.
