La Paz, February 27 (Xinhua) — At least 15 people were killed and 30 others injured when a Bolivian Air Force plane crashed Friday evening in El Alto, western Bolivia, local media reported.

A Bolivian Air Force Hercules C-130 skidded off the runway while landing at El Alto International Airport and crashed into several vehicles, according to the fire department.

It is noted that the plane was carrying new banknotes from the Central Bank of Bolivia, and a large number of fallen banknotes were found at the scene of the incident.

Boliviana de Aviacion, Bolivia's national airline, announced the temporary closure of El Alto International Airport following the plane crash.
