BEIJING, February 27 (Xinhua) — China is seeing rapid growth in the number of businesses in eight emerging industries and nine future industries, with more than 1.13 million new companies established in these sectors in 2025, a 9.9 percent year-on-year increase, according to data released Thursday by the State Administration of Market Regulation (SAMR).

The fastest growing sectors were advanced robotics, civil aviation, and generative artificial intelligence.

According to the GURR, nearly 25.75 million new business entities were registered in China last year, including 9.5 million enterprises and 16.19 million individual entrepreneurs.

Consumer-related sectors have also shown promising results. By 2025, the number of companies producing smart consumer equipment will reach approximately 78,000, including approximately 5,000 new ones.

In 2025, the cultural tourism sector saw the creation of 3.3 million new businesses, up 12.2 percent year-on-year, while sectors related to the “silver economy” saw the creation of approximately 68,000 new businesses, up 17.1 percent year-on-year.

Market regulators will continue to improve market access and exit mechanisms, promote a fair competitive environment, and optimize public services for entrepreneurship, thereby further stimulating the viability of all types of economic entities. -0-
