Beijing, February 25 (Xinhua) — This year marks the beginning of China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), and new opportunities for development in trade and economic cooperation between China and Germany will emerge in the next five years, Chinese State Council Premier Li Qiang announced on Wednesday.
During talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Beijing, Li Qiang indicated that China is willing to work with Germany to fully utilize the dialogue mechanism of intergovernmental consultations, strengthen the alignment of development strategies, communication and coordination on political issues, and expand and improve trade relations between the two countries.
The head of the Chinese government called on the parties to intensify traditional cooperation in sectors such as the automobile and chemical industries, and expand cooperation in emerging sectors, including artificial intelligence and biopharmaceuticals, to cultivate more new areas of economic growth.
China intends to increase imports of high-quality products from Germany and encourage and support investment by Chinese enterprises in Germany, the Premier noted, expressing hope that the German side will provide them with a fair, stable, and predictable business environment.
Following the negotiations, the parties jointly attended the signing of a package of documents on bilateral cooperation in areas such as green transition, customs, sports and media. –0–
