Mexico City, February 23 (Xinhua) — Twenty-seven security personnel were killed in Mexico in retaliatory attacks by members of the Jalisco New Generation drug cartel, Mexican Minister of Public Security and Citizen Protection Omar García Harfouch announced at a press conference on Monday.
Mexican authorities have recorded 27 attacks on law enforcement agencies. Six attacks, in particular, occurred in the western state of Jalisco, resulting in the deaths of 25 National Guard members, one prison guard, and one state prosecutor.
O. García Harfush said that 30 members of organized crime groups were also killed during the attacks.
He added that the government had sent additional security forces to Jalisco and established a national command center to address the situation. –0–
