GENEVA, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) — Xinhua News Agency Director-General Fu Hua met with World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala in Geneva, Switzerland on Monday.
Fu Hua noted that this year marks 25 years since China's accession to the WTO. He explained that over these 25 years, Xinhua has witnessed and documented many memorable moments in exchanges and cooperation between China and the WTO.
As Fu Hua pointed out, Xinhua is willing to further strengthen communication and cooperation with the WTO, jointly demonstrating the importance of the multilateral trading system and telling stories about how China and the WTO work together to promote global economic growth.
For her part, N. Okonjo-Iweala praised China's long-standing support for WTO reform. She noted that China's announcement last year that it would not seek new special and differential treatment in current or future WTO negotiations demonstrated the country's commitment to deepening reform and openness.
N. Okonjo-Iweala expressed her readiness to continue strengthening contacts and cooperation with China, jointly promoting the reform, improvement and development of the WTO. –0–
