Kabul, February 21 (Xinhua) — Afghan authorities confiscated and burned approximately 100 tons of expired and substandard medicines and food products in Kabul as part of a major operation to protect public health, the official Bakhtar news agency reported on Saturday.

The Kabul administration, in cooperation with health authorities, regularly inspects pharmacies and retail outlets to monitor the quality of medicines and food products. Any substandard or expired goods are immediately confiscated and destroyed, the statement said.
