Specialists urban economy complex will be cleaned around the clock freshly fallen snowThis was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing, Public Utilities and Urban Development Petr Biryukov.
"Heavy snowfall hit the capital region today, and forecasters predict it will continue tomorrow, but at a less intense rate," the deputy mayor noted. "All day long, utility workers cleared key highways, streets, pedestrian areas, sidewalks, and courtyards. Snowfall cleanup efforts will continue overnight and will continue around the clock."
The maximum number of employees from municipal services and major Moscow engineering companies has been deployed to clean up the streets. The entire fleet of municipal equipment is working on the streets.
City services remain in an enhanced mode. Dispatchers are constantly monitoring the condition of streets and roads. As precipitation falls, specialized equipment clears snow from roadways and pedestrian areas and then treats the surfaces with de-icing compounds.
Managers of municipal enterprises and organizations, emergency crews from engineering companies, and administrative district prefectures are on duty around the clock. Tractors and heavy-duty cranes have been deployed along the Moscow Ring Road and in the New Moscow Administrative Okrugs to assist truck drivers.
On Friday, after the snowfall subsides, utility services will begin clearing snow and ice from pitched roofs of apartment buildings, protruding building facades, gutters, and downspouts. The work areas will be blocked off with tape and special barriers to prevent pedestrian access.
