A billiards palace will be built in the Mnevnikovskaya Poima in the northwest of the capital. The building's architectural concept has already been approved, according to the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction. Vladimir Efimov.
"The Mnevnikovskaya Poima is one of the capital's major development centers. A modern district with diverse infrastructure is being created here. Thanks to the construction of new facilities funded by the city and investors, this area is acquiring a recognizable architectural appearance. In addition to residential areas, embankments, and transport facilities, a large sports cluster is emerging here, each uniquely designed. Last year, an ice rink opened, featuring a canopy shaped like the tip of a skate. Construction of the Alexander Ovechkin International Hockey Academy continues, and plans also include a tennis center and a CSKA sports training center. Another large-scale project, which will be built nearby, will be a billiards palace—it will be shaped like a billiard table. Its area is planned to be 9,800 square meters," said Vladimir Efimov.
The building will be constructed near Terekhovsky Pond. Nearby will be an equestrian center, a multifunctional complex, a residential complex, and other properties, totaling 1.8 million square meters.
White cassettes will be used to finish the facades of the future billiard palace. Glazing will be used to highlight the entrance areas, contrasting with the more enclosed main building blocks.
"The architectural concept for the Billiard Palace in Khoroshevo-Mnevniki has been approved. The complex will feature a smooth shape and a laconic façade design—a repeating geometric pattern of triangles. The windows will be designed as portholes or cubbies, a nod to billiard balls. Backlighting will be implemented using perforated façade panels. This will be achieved using integrated RGB lighting systems with various lighting scenarios," noted the Moscow Government Minister and Head of the Department of Urban Development Policy.
The façade will wrap around above the roof level, creating a decorative screen that will conceal the utility systems located on the roof. The architectural concept was developed by UNK Architects.
Ekaterina SolovievaThe Moscow Government Minister and head of the Department of City Property added that the construction of the Billiards Palace in the Mnevnikovskaya Poima is another large-scale investment project being implemented in Moscow with the support of the city. A 2.37-hectare site has been allocated for this purpose. The lease agreement is for three years—the maximum duration of the project. The new complex will house tables for Russian billiards, pool, snooker, and Chinese eight-ball.
The Terekhovo station of the Big Circle Line metro is located near the future billiard arena. A bridge approximately 200 meters long will also be built here. It will connect the eastern part of the floodplain and Fili Park, and also create a pedestrian connection to the metro station.
Previously about construction in the Mnevnikovskaya floodplain billiards palace Sergei Sobyanin said.
Several educational facilities with a total of 2,600 school and preschool children will also be built on the site. Pedestrian paths, playgrounds, and observation decks will be installed on the two embankments. One will run from building 37e on Nizhniye Mnevniki Street to the beach south of Krylatsky Bridge, and the other will run from the intersection of Nizhniye Mnevniki Street and Proektiruyemy Proezd No. 1166 to the bridge-sail at the beginning of Novozavodskaya Street.
