Munich, Germany, February 15, Xinhua — China is willing to work with Canada to build stable and healthy bilateral relations, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Saturday.

Wang Yi, also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, made the statement during a meeting with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

Wang Yi noted that Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's recent visit to China had yielded fruitful results, fully demonstrating that the new Canadian government is pursuing a new policy toward China that serves the common interests of both countries and is absolutely the right choice.

Wang Yi emphasized that Chinese President Xi Jinping and Michael Carney reached a consensus on building a new strategic partnership between China and Canada, which will provide strategic guidance for the better development of bilateral relations.

For her part, A. Anand noted that M. Carney’s visit to China was very successful and opened a new era in Canadian-Chinese relations.

She thanked the Chinese side for providing visa-free travel to Canadian citizens and expressed hope for maintaining close dialogue and cooperation, intensifying mutual travel, and promoting positive and stable development of bilateral relations. –0–
