WASHINGTON, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) — The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has partially shut down operations as temporary funding for the agency expired on Friday.
On Thursday, the US Senate failed to pass a bill funding the Department of Homeland Security. Republicans and Democrats failed to reach an agreement on immigration enforcement reform following the deaths of two people shot by federal agents in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Congress recently passed a package funding several U.S. federal agencies through the end of fiscal year 2026, but the DHS only received funds for two weeks. –0–
