UNITED NATIONS, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) — The United Nations Security Council on Friday strongly condemned the suicide bombing at a mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Feb. 6, which killed more than 30 people and injured many more.
In a press statement, members of the UN Security Council expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims, the government and people of Pakistan, and wished a speedy and full recovery to the injured.
Reaffirming that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security, the members of the UN Security Council emphasized the need to hold accountable the perpetrators, organizers, financiers, and sponsors of these terrorist acts, the statement said.
The members of the Security Council reiterated that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motives, and reaffirmed the need for all States to combat by all means, in accordance with the UN Charter and other obligations under international law, threats to international peace and security posed by terrorist acts. –0–
